What is the difference between N95 and protective masks?
N95 respirators are tight-fitting respirators that reduce the wearer’s exposure to airborne particles and filter out at least 95% of large and small particles. Protective masks are loose-fitting and provide only barrier protection against large and small particles. Most face masks do not prevent leakage around the edge of the mask when the user inhales.

How can I tell if a protective mask is good quality?
A protective mask has three layers: the inner layer (non-woven fabric) is used for absorbing moisture, the middle layer (melt-blown fabric) is a filter and the outer layer (non-woven fabric) repels liquid. A simple waterproof and burn test can be done at home to make sure the protective mask is made with the correct material. The inner and outer layer should repel liquid and the middle layer should melt under fire. If the middle layer catches on fire, then the mask is made from paper (not melt-blown fabric). In addition to testing reports provided by our manufacturer, we test all shipments of masks that we receive before distributing them.

Warnings: Single-use only. Check mask condition before using and discard immediately if it is damaged. This mask does not eliminate the risk of contracting any disease or infection. Replace if damaged or soiled with blood or other bodily fluids.

MASK FAQ

What is a protective face mask?

A protective face mask is made with non-woven fabric and melt-blown cloth that covers your nose and mouth and provides barrier protection against large particle droplets and does not effectively filter inhaled small particles, fumes, or vapors.

How can I tell if a protective mask is good quality?

A protective mask has three layers: the inner layer is used for absorbing moisture, the middle layer is a filter and the outer layer repels liquid.  A simple waterproof and burn test can be done at home to make sure the protective mask is made with the correct material. The inner and outer layer should repel liquid and the middle layer should melt under fire. If the middle layer catches on fire, then the mask is made from paper (not melt-blown fabric).

Should I wear a mask if I am not sick?

The CDC strongly recommended the public to wear masks to prevent further spread. Since the cost and effort of making a mask at home are high with lower effectiveness than a protective mask, we decided to start the COVID Guard Fund which enables us to supply and donate protective masks to those in need.

What is the difference between protective mask and N95 mask?

N95 respirators are tight-fitting respirators that reduce the wearer’s exposure to airborne particles and filter out at least 95% of large and small particles.

Protective masks are loose-fitting and provide only barrier protection against large and small particles. Most face masks do not prevent leakage around the edge of the mask when the user inhales.

Is this a respirator?

No, a respirator is used to reduce the wearer’s risk of inhaling hazardous airborne particles, gases or vapors. Respirators are certified by CDC/NIOSH.

What is the right way to wear and remove a mask?

A protective mask should comfortably cover your nose and mouth with the blue side facing out. In taking on and off a face covering, you will likely touch your face. Wash your hands for 20 seconds with soap and water every time you take on and off your face mask.  Do not put a used mask in places where others can touch them or where germs from the mask can touch other surfaces.

Can I wear my protective mask multiple times?

Protective masks are for single-use only.

How long does it take to receive my masks?

Orders are processed and shipped within 24 hours of purchase. We will provide a tracking number and your masks should arrive in 3-5 business days.
